ZRecs is gearing up for monthly prize drawings for email subscribers, and we couldn't be happier about our first prize. Obentec, makers of the Laptop Lunch bento-style lunchboxes, has generously offered to donate a Laptop Lunch System valued at $34 plus shipping to a ZRecs reader. We bought Z one of their bento boxes last fall as an early Christmas present, and bought two more after realizing how much we loved borrowing it ourselves on the days she isn't in daycare.
The full system comes with a ten-piece bento box (five inner containers, two of them with lids, and a fork and spoon, all of which nest neatly into an outer shell), plus a recipe book, drink bottle, and carrying case. Did we mention these sell for $34 plus shipping?
We will be drawing an email address from the rolls of current Feedblitz and Feedburner email subscribers on the afternoon of Friday, March 2, which means if you aren't currently a subscriber, you can still subscribe now and be entered in the drawing! You can use the subscription box at left to subscribe via Feedblitz, or the box at the bottom of this post if you prefer Feedburner. Our family members are not eligible for the drawing. Sorry, mom!
ZRecs will be giving away a different kid-friendly product every month to an email subscriber.
Tomorrow we will be posting about our experiences with Laptop Lunch bento boxes and talking about how to make fun lunches for your kids or yourself using a few tools and techniques we've discovered. Stay tuned!

Good News......the Laptop Lunch system is lead-free. This from their website, "19. I recently read a press release about children's lunchboxes containing lead! Is this for real? What about Laptop Lunches? Have they been tested?
I assume that you're referring to the Center for Environmental Health's press release entitled "A Back to School Warning: Children’s Vinyl Lunch Boxes Can Contain Dangerous Levels of Lead," posted at www.cehca.org/lunchboxes.htm. As crazy as this claim sounds, it is--unfortunately--not a hoax.
The good news is that Laptop Lunches have been thoroughly tested and are completely lead-free."

Yes! This is one of the benefits of their lunch kit. We'll be writing more about it later today, and will touch on that issue.
I just got one of these last week and I LOVE it. I actually look forward to packing my lunch now.
