Squeeze Play: Droppers and Color

We took the advice of Jennifer Lance and got Z an eyedropper to use in mixing colored liquids. She had a blast.

The highly-absorbent paper towels were an addition inspired by a lot of spillage going on. As it turned out, the way they absorbed and bled out the colors became even more interesting to Z than mixing the colors themselves. Eventually the activity turned into a big pourfest with sopping wet paper towel bits and a cryptic explanation that she was "making candles." All in all this play activity lasted over an hour while we cleaned up the kitchen, washed dishes, and made dinner. All in the service of fine motor skills development.
