Color Your Own Play Sand

The next time you're stocking up on play sand, bypass the colored bags of sand and buy a plain one and a four-color package of liquid food coloring instead. A good squirt (10-15 drops) of food coloring in about a pint of play sand makes great, vibrant colored sand, and you can get lots of small batches of different colors instead of one single color for the whole bag. Toddlers also love mixing the sand with a fork to blend the color, which extends the play into a "cooking" project as well.

Good idea....and finally I can reclaim the food colouring back from the bath. The kids love to choose what colour the water will be.

Any thoughts on what happens if the sand gets wet?
