We like to bring snacks for Z when we're going out for the day to run errands or play. Bananas are a favorite quick snack in our family, but when you go out for the day you can't really leave a banana in a hot car, which means carrying it around along with whatever other baby or family gear you need along your journey. So we try to eat bananas first because by the end of our outing, they're brown and bruised and we run the risk of Z declaring them "yucky" and refusing to eat them.
Enter the Banana Guard. This cleverly-designed if ridiculous-looking contraption will protect your banana from bruises and dents while it rides around in your bag waiting to be eaten. We tried it out one Saturday and put a banana guarded and a banana unguarded in Jeremiah's bag. This is the beginning of the day:
This is the end of the day:
Although it's a bit bulky and we probably wouldn't try to get it through customs, the Banana Guard fit all the bananas that we tried and does a good job at keeping your banana unbruised. For around $10 each, we're fairly confident that serious banana eaters and their parents would consider this a worthwhile investment if they gave it a try.
You can order the Banana Guard for about $10 from the company's website.
We have a banana guard to give away to a ZRecs RSS reader! Send your answer to the question at the bottom of the feed to the email address indicated for your chance to win. Contest ends Monday evening.
