Pegleg Tango
Captain Bogg and Salty, 2005
Given that I've been humming their tunes for over a year now, it seems only fitting that I should write about Captain Bogg and Salty [website], Portland, Oregon's beloved pirate rock band. Their second album, Pegleg Tango, has become the soundtrack for most of our road trips as the CD rarely leaves the car stereo. Brilliant lyrics, beautiful characterization (it'll only take a few listens before you decide on your favorite pirate), masterful storytelling, and good music and sound effects keep kids and grownups happy. If you're fortunate enough to see a live show, you'll become an instant groupie - this band's heart is as big as its sound. - Asha Dornfest, Parent Hacks

Oh, I forgot all about Captain Bogg & Salty. We have "Bedtime Stories for Pirates" and I love to listen to it. We're stuck on repeat with "Life is a Highway" at this point -- I'll have to change up our car tunes.
