ZRecs Top Pick Giveaway: Family Yoga Pack

When we reviewed Lotuspad kids' yoga mats and the Yoga Garden Game, we awarded each of them Top Pick status.

Lotuspad mats are hands-down the best yoga mats we've ever used, and the fact that they offer them in a kid-friendly 48" size is just icing on the cake - Jenni and I each have adult-sized Lotuspads now, and we'll never go back to sticky, icky PVC. The Yoga Garden Game is a great family game that encourages stretching and creative movement. It's beautifully made and designed to stand the test of time.

So we were thrilled to learn that Lotuspad was expanding its shop's offerings to include kids' yoga videos and the Yoga Garden Game in addition to its mats and carry straps. It seems like a natural move for the company, and we look forward to seeing what other products earn their trust - books, music, DVDs, and more - as we think there's a lot of potential for a full-scale online shop specializing in family exercise and relaxation, and a lot of great products out there.

To celebrate their new product offerings, Lotuspad is offering one lucky ZRecs reader a seriously sweet Yoga Family Pack: Two of their adult mats (66" long) plus up to three mats for kids or teens (either the 48" or 66" version) for a total of five premium-quality, PVC-free yoga mats, plus the Yoga Garden Game to help bring your family together around simple yoga moves that encourage self-expression and relaxed exercise. By our calculations, the total prize value for a family of five is up to $164.

There are two ways to win this $164 prize package:

  1. Comment on this post with the number of kids (up to three) and adults (up to two) in your family who you'd be getting free mats for, and what one of their favorite animals is.
  2. For a bonus entry, comment a second time (make sure it's a different comment so you get two entries!) with the name of one relevant kid-oriented product you'd love to see offered in the Lotuspad online shop. (Make sure they aren't already selling it!) The item should be related to yoga, exercise, or relaxation for kids, and if you have used it or seen it in action, share your impressions with other readers who may be looking for good stuff for their own kids.
The deadline for entering is 11:59 p.m. CST April 3, 2008. We will select a winner at random as well as three alternates and post their names to the PRIZEYWinners blog the next day; those who don't mind broadcasting their email address permanently on a public website can include it in entries to be notified directly if they win, but please be advised we won't follow signature links to seek out email addresses. There is no purchase necessary to enter this giveaway, by entering you absolve us of any responsibility if something goes wrong, and we reserve the right to disqualify any entrants who deliberately muck things up. The winner will have 72 hours to contact us with their mailing address; if they fail to do so the first alternate to have done so will be awarded the prize.

Good luck!

We have two adults and two kids who would benefit from new mats. My daughter's favorite animal is the giraffe. What a great prize.

We're a two grown-up. two kid family with six cats. At her first eye doctor appointment last week, Roo was asked what her favorite animal was. She answered, with no hesitation: tapir. The doctor didn't know what to make of it! I was expecting kitty, since we have six of 'em, but kids always surprise you...

I would love to get back into yoga practice (haven't gone back since we got kicked out of baby & mom yoga when my daughter started crawling) and I think my 2 year old would love it too. So, 2 adults and one child. She has always been partial to dogs.

You could even make different sized packages, or let people make custom packages.

I think adding clothes would be a great idea...as do lots of others. I would suggest, though, to be wary of seams, even if it is cute, if the seams are uncomfortable lots of people won't wear it again. Most will say it looks funny on them, even if it just hangs funny because of the seams. Also, Nalgenes with your logo! They last for a long time, and it isn't going to be just another product in the land fill.

Thanks!!! nsdpowerballs (at) yahoo

A great and complimentary product for Lotuspad to carry would be the Kids Yoga Deck (by Annie Buckley). The color coded deck of cards really encourages creativity. My son's school has this and he and his friends LOVE it so now we have at home as well.

This product would compliment all the great products that Lotuspad already carries!!!

I would like to see some children's books dealing with yoga. I don't know if there are any out there, but it would be fun to read books together about it before or after doing yoga. I have one called yoga for bears and it shows a little bear doing different yoga positions. It's cute, but I was thinking one with a story line.

Three children and two adults. My oldest daughter just loves frogs...especially hopping like one!

I would LOVE to see someone carry yoga balls (balance balls) in kids sizes. That way my daughter can copy my ab exercises on them!

1 little girl here and 2 grown-ups. Her favorite animal is a dog, especially one with a wagging tail. She also likes Mommy's Downward Dog!

I love that site! I'm thinking of switching to one of their mats; assuming I don't win one! V loves to watch me do yoga. The DVD's look great :)

As for products, I have tons of ideas...can I put more than one?

I'd like to see environmentally safe candles or oils for burning; meditation chimes that kids can ring (without being too annoying to the adults!), and books for teaching meditation to kids, or CDs that do guided meditations for them.

Kid's yoga balls with animal features (like ears for a cat, or eyes for a frog) would be awesome!
